Abstract

Recent happenings in South East Asia have shown that global warming enhanced by Climate Change has increased the anomalous events in the monsoons which has resulted in the sudden heavy downpour of rain, abnormal temperature and longer dry spells that are drastically affecting human and other living organisms. In recent years the rivers have been flooding due to unpredictable rainfall as a result of microclimatic changes, landslide frequency is increasing, and urban areas are inundated time and again as a result of change in monsoon pattern and poor land use and land cover management throughout the world. Further, enhanced anthropogenic activities have accelerated the water-air pollution that has made our living environment difficult to survive. All the papers in the issue cover these aspects to the extent possible in order to get an insight into the climate related problems.
